Tadhi Alawi is a Tanzanian dancer, movement researcher, choreographer, founding member and artistic director of Nantea Dance Company. With his company, he directs various dance programmes and events such as Nje Ndani, the Outreach Dance Project and Kiota cha Dansi (A nest of Dance) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
In 2024, he was selected as the curator of the Dance Platform Project, a project that invites artists from the sub-Saharan region during the Haba na Haba International Dance Festival in collaboration with the regional office of the Goethe-Institut in Johannesburg. In 2022, Tadhi Alawi won a grant as one of 100 professional artists from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe (non-EU countries) who received the grant organised by artlink.ch in collaboration with Sudkulturfond. Tadhi also works as a filmmaker; his dance films have been shown at various dance film festivals and on BBC News.
