Dancing against erasure: the body as a site of memory and resistance

This movement and dance workshop offers a space of exploration where the body becomes a site of memory, resistance, and presence.

Through improvisation, rhythm, breath, the question of dispossession of the self, and the erasure of one’s being while remaining visible, the workshop interrogates notions of erasure, trace, vulnerability, and transmission.

By engaging the body as a living archive, participants will be invited to explore the memories embedded in gestures, silences, tensions, and movement pathways.

Between individual experiences and collective resonances, movement becomes an act of resistance, affirmation, and reclaiming of the self.

Open to both dancers and non-professionals, this workshop encourages deep listening to the body, presence, and sensitive experimentation within a space of sharing and collective creation.

Open to everyone. No prior dance experience required.

The workshop is open to participants with and without prior dance experience and welcomes people with different physical abilities. Workshop facilitator Kettly Noël has experience working with people with disabilities and limited mobility. Her improvisational and process-oriented approach supports an inclusive learning environment.
