KUYUM TANZPLATTFORM: Youth Day – Move, Explore, Create!
Join us for a special day of dance and discovery at Kuyum Tanzplattform!
Come and enjoy a special day of dance and new discoveries at the Kuyum Dance Platform! It will be fun and exciting, with everything designed especially for children. This year’s theme is “How the Body Expresses Feelings and Thoughts,” which has Afrocentric roots. African dances have always incorporated the body as a source of emotional and conscious expression. We celebrate the rich connection between movement and inner life, opening the festival with a day dedicated specifically to children.

A special highlight: IYASA performers Dorcas Ngwenya and Nqobizitha Ncube from the Theater Strahl co-production Wie ist das Wetter? will be joining us! Experience how they use Zimbabwean storytelling traditions to bring the topics of climate, the environment, and shared responsibility to life in a way that’s engaging for children.

“Mmangui” is designed to create a space for artistic exchange and discovery. This performance is rooted in the Sabar dance tradition and will be followed by a workshop.
The activities and the performances are meant to foster imagination and movement exploration.
KUYUM TANZPLATTFORM is a celebration of neo-African dance, a contemporary art form that draws inspiration from the rich movement traditions of dancers of African descent. This Children’s Day is a fantastic opportunity for young people to experience the joy of movement and dance in a supportive and welcoming environment.
We extend a special invitation to children of the African diaspora to discover and take pride in their heritage, through performances that showcase positive and empowering representations.
We aim to provide an inclusive and accessible experience for all children. Please let us know if you have particular needs.
We look forward to extending Kuyum Tanzplattform to all ages!
