Searching for a dance language: embodying the penguin

Inspired by the performance Tous sur la banquise, this workshop invites participants to explore the movement world of the penguin and discover how animal movement can become the foundation for a unique dance language.

Participants will begin by learning fundamental movement qualities and physical principles inspired by the penguin. Building on these foundations, they will be encouraged to explore and develop their own movement vocabulary through improvisation, embodied awareness, and playful experimentation. The workshop offers space to discover individual forms of expression and expand personal movement possibilities.

In the second part of the workshop, participants will learn and perform short choreographic sequences from the production, exploring how these movements are transformed into a performative dance language. Open to people with and without dance experience, the workshop embraces the diversity of bodies and movement practices as a valuable artistic resource. Curiosity, shared learning, and the joy of movement are at the heart of the experience.

Open to everyone. No prior dance experience required.

The workshop is open to participants with and without prior dance experience and welcomes people with different physical abilities, encouraging them to work from their own physical experience and capacity. Its improvisational and process-oriented approach supports an inclusive learning environment.
