Baba is a dance maker who, within her artistic and pedagogical practice, repeatedly deals with socio-critical issues in a wide variety of contexts. Her many years of diverse experience in the fields of dance and theatre allow her not only an artistic but also a scientific and cultural-political view of the performing arts.
Starting with ballet at the age of 4, Pascale Baba Altenburger’s great passion today is Street- and club styles with all their facets and variations. Baba is a freelance dancer, dance teacher and choreographer. She studied social anthropology, dance and theatre studies and gender studies.
She is a member of Bla*Sh (Black feminist network from German-speaking Switzerland with local groups in Basel, Bern and Zurich) and a big fan of café révolution (safer space) in Bern.She was also a jury member of the Swiss Dance Days 2026, and a board member of beta Berner Tanzschaffende .
Since 2021, she has been leading workshops that focus on anti-Black racism, discrimination and intersectionality.
