Edem Meier Akakpo, also known as Meier Eden, was born in 1993 and lives with his family in Berlin. A dancer and choreographer, he runs workshops and coaching sessions for children, young people and adults, specialising in a blend of hip-hop, breakdance and contemporary dance. He holds a Master’s degree in Artistic and Choreographic Writing and has worked with renowned choreographers.
He is the founder and artistic director of the New Star Dance Company in his home country of Togo, and is a member of the German national hip-hop team, Team Recycled. He has collaborated on choreography at STAL (Studio de Théâtre d’Art) in Lomé, Togo, and was honoured at the 2017 Afrik’Art Festival for best choreography. In 2023, he performed at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW). In November 2023, he performed with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin at the Konzerthaus Berlin, under the direction of Joana Mallwitz, the orchestra’s chief conductor and artistic director. In 2024, he choreographed and performed ‘Bau auf! Bau ab!’ at the Humboldt Forum, as well as performing at the opening of the Hannah Höch Award and Hannah Höch Sponsorship Award at the Berlinische Galerie. He has also appeared in two international dance films. In 2025, he will appear on the 20^(th) season of „AGT/America’s Got Talent“.
