KUYUM Tanzplattform x Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW)

As part of the KUYUM Tanzplattform x Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) bringing together contemporary dance, participatory practices and cultural exchange.
 
The collaboration brings together diverse artistic perspectives and creates spaces for encounter, movement and shared experiences. A particular focus is placed on contemporary African dance and the perspectives of BIPoC artists.
 
Through a panel discussion and participatory dance practice, as well as a children’s disco for children and families, the programme invites audiences to experience dance as an artistic form of expression and as a shared space for exchange and encounter.

Dance is a field of multiple artistic practices and embodied experiences, but which dances and experiences take priority when it comes down to support, appreciation, and value? To which spaces and situations are those the dances and bodies deemed unworthy relegated to? And which actions are those affected taking to counter the biases?

The KUYUM Tanzplattform and the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) invite children and families to a fun-filled day of rhythm, music, dance and storytelling as part of the 2026 Children’s Disco at the HKW. 

The festival celebrates contemporary African dance and puts BIPoC artists in the spotlight. Audiences of all ages are welcome to discover movement, creativity and playing together.

Important Information:

  • Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before the start on both days (April 24 & 25, 2026) at the entrance
  • We will meet you there and guide you to the workshop room

Please bring:

  • A water bottle
  • Light, comfortable clothing

On site:

  • Restrooms on every floor
  • No changing rooms or showers
  • You can change in the studio or in the restroom
  • No elevator

Workshop Times:

  • April 24, 2026: 6:00–8:00 PM
  • April 25, 2026: 2:00–4:00 PM
