Gaya Dandara is a Brazilian dancer, choreographer and researcher. She completed her dance training in classical and contemporary dance from 1998 to 2005 at the dance school of Grupo Corpo (Brazil). She then specialized in scenic anthropology and ethnoscenology in the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil) and also in traditional and contemporary African dances by École des Sables (Senegal) with the choreographer Germaine Acogny. Nowaday she also created and directs the project „Tanzimpulse für Vielfalt”, produced in partnership with the „ Berliner Projektfonds Kulturelle Bildung”. Gaya Dandara is a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences FHCHP – Potsdam, with the seminars „ Body and rhythm in Black diaspora’s Dances” and „ Black Diasporas in the contexts of the ethnoscenology theatrical anthropology”.
