Workshop with live drum music by Ahmed Soura
Ahmed Soura begins his workshop by introducing the participants to various traditional dances from Burkina Faso, West Africa. He will present dances from the Gouroussi, Turka, Fulfulde, Gourrmatchéma, Warba and Samo ethnic groups, among others.
Participants will develop choreographies that integrate traditional dances into contemporary African dance. Powerful rhythms and varied tempos blend with the joie de vivre of Burkina Faso. African Contemporary Dance combines contemporary and traditional styles, but also incorporates elements of street dance, mask dance and modern dance.
