Kuyumtanzplattform 2025 Camille Badirou
KUYUM TANZPLATTFORM 2025

Camille Badirou

Camille Badirou (Cami – she/her) is a French Beninese dance artist, choreographer, and performer. Through movement, she explores and expresses the complexity of her Black and afro-descendant identity. Her artistic journey began with dance at an early age with ballet, and naturally expanded to new perspectives. After completing an International Master’s in Law and working in the legal field, she made a decisive shift to pursue her passion professionally. She completed her dance education at Studio Harmonic in Paris and continued to broaden her experience through international travels. Driven by a constant search for new movement pathways, Camille’s work challenges western artistic frameworks. Her practice centers decolonial perspective through the body, positioning movement as a space for reflection, resistance, and transformation. Her affinity for writing poetry often in dialogue with the choreographic process.

Her versatility allows her to blend diverse textures, rhythms, and musicalities, creating a unique and dynamic physical language. She has worked under the direction of choreographer Dalton Jansen in Rotterdam for BlackBirds production, and choreographs herself for artistic and collaborative events. In June 2025, Camille directed her Portrait Performance at Ballhaus Naunynstraße.

The piece «NA KOLONIA » in its full version will be premiering in Berlin in Kuyum Tanzplattform 2025, further asserting her commitment to change dominant artistic narratives and amplifying the voices of Black bodies.
