At a time of right-wing resurgence and the criminalisation of queer identities, where can you find space to breathe? How can Black queers manage their anger while staying true to their roots in the face of tightening anti-LGBTQ+ laws around the world?

Isabel Kwarteng-Acheampong explores striking a balance between patience and resistance against homophobia and racism. Through her body and movement, she honours her Ashanti ancestors and learns to embrace her German identity despite facing discrimination. This process is an act of resistance that preserves a connection to heritage and community.

The performance asks: Can we stay connected to our roots and true to ourselves in a world that constantly questions our existence? Isabel invites the audience to witness this ongoing negotiation, in which navigating this complexity leads to a balance of resilience and self-preservation.
